Friends of Tidbinbilla

The Friends of Tidbinbilla have been working quietly in the reserve since January 1992. Over the last few years we have worked on:

       •Waterwatch and Water bug Snapshots
       • Bird surveys
       • Weed removal
       • Track maintenance
       • Frog watch
       • Adopt-A-Road
       • Feral animal mapping and rabbit warren removal
       • Vegetation control and monitoring
       • Fire fuel assessments
       • Koala monitoring
       • Tree planting, propagation and seed collection
       • Easter Extravaganza
       • Spotted Quoll surveys
       • Maintenance of heritage houses within the reserve

 

        Friends of Tidbinbilla – Works Calendar January to June 2008

 

·          Friends’ activities are generally scheduled for the first and third Saturdays of each month.

·          Meet at the Friends Room at the Depot (Depot Conference Room) at 10.00am and usually finish around midday.

·          After and activity, we usually get together for a friendly lunch.

·          All members must sign on and off before and after an activity.

·          Please report any incidents or issues to Rangers.

·          Note: On days of Total Fire Ban, the Reserve may be closed. Please call the Visitors Centre on 6205 1233 for further information.

Guided walk with Rod Hillman

A guided walk with the General Manager of Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve, Rod Hillman, through the new wetlands area named the Sanctuary.

16 February 2008

Work Party: Rock Valley Working Bee

Basic garden and some general maintenance works around the heritage pise homestead, including hand pulling of the hemlock in the creek line. Gloves required as it is toxic.

1 March 2008

Clean Up Australia Day (Saturday)

Regular clean up along the Tidbinbilla Road in the designated Adopt-a-Road area. Please note it will be held on Saturday, although the actual Clean Up Australia Day is on Sunday 2 March 2008.

Tidbinbilla Extravaganza

If any FOT are interested, there will be the opportunity for a display at the Tidbinbilla Extravaganza. The new wetlands area will also be opening on this day.
